When it comes to professional development, teachers' training rarely focuses on the performance aspect of the job, according to Doug Lemov, an author and managing director of Uncommon Schools, a nonprofit school management organization. In his own experience conducting training and workshops, Lemov has found that while teachers knew what to do, they were unable to put what they learned into action following training. So, he altered his training, focusing more on giving teachers time to employ best practices, rather than just discussing them.
