The chief executive of Wave Broadband dismisses the notion that new competition in Wave's Seattle market puts pressure on the company to boost its top fiber speeds, saying Wave has no plans to tap the city's municipal fiber network. Responding indirectly to Gigabit Squared's plan to add fiber-to-the-home services in Seattle, Steve Weed said his company has all the capacity it needs, and he questioned the logic of adding more simply for marketing reasons. "Once you get about 50 Mbps, there's almost no home that uses that much," he said. "You'd need 25 people living in your house to use that."
