Housing-cost burden helps fuel tiny-house movement

The growing popularity of tiny houses has been fueled in part by people looking to avoid overburdening their budgets with housing costs, says Ryan Mitchell, creator of TheTinyLife.com, who himself became interested in the idea after losing his job. "I started looking at my budget and I realized that housing costs were about half of my expenditures every month," he said.
