Hundreds of 3rd-graders in Okla. district may be retained

An Oklahoma school district will hold back 636 third-grade students who failed a mandatory reading exam, but it will promote 514 other students who failed but qualified for one of seven exemptions. Officials say some of the 636 students could be promoted if they pass an alternate exam being offered July 25.
