Microsoft joins Qualcomm-led alliance for home standard

Microsoft is now part of Qualcomm's AllSeen Alliance, a group of more than 50 companies using the AllJoyn standard to establish a common language for smart-device communications through home networks. Competing chipmakers reportedly are preparing to unveil their own standards consortium, possibly by next week.
