Researcher: Risk calculator facilitates CVD prevention discussions

University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center researchers developed the Lifetime Risk Calculator for cardiovascular disease using data from a 16,500-person longitudinal trial. The tool estimates long-term risks based on fitness, weight, cholesterol levels and other factors. "With this, we can actually have an informed discussion about what their risk looks like now and what their risk would be if they increased their fitness by 15% or 20%," lead researcher Dr. Jarett Berry said.
