Tech leaders form group to propel data center Ethernet

Technology firms led by Microsoft and Google have joined forces to advance new specifications for single-lane 25 GbE and dual-lane 50 GbE in the data center. The 25 Gigabit Ethernet Consortium -- which also includes Broadcom, Mellanox Technologies and Arista Networks -- is seeking to address mounting capacity demands related to cloud computing, Big Data and mobility.
