Tropics to experience population growth, report predicts

About 40% of the world's population currently lives in the tropics, but that percentage is expected to rise in the coming years, according to a new report titled "State of the Tropics." "The tropical population is expected to exceed that of the rest of the world in the late 2030s, confirming just how crucial the Tropics are to the world's future," said Sandra Harding, vice chancellor at Australia's James Cook University.
