J.C. Penney's in-store Web access a hit with customers

J.C. Penney's decision to connect its POS systems to the Web so that associates can check the online availability of out-of-stock items has paid off. Customers are twice as likely to report that they are highly satisfied with their shopping experiences if they are offered the service, according to a representative.
