Analyst: Global IT spending will dip from previous estimates

Research firm Gartner has adjusted its global IT spending prediction for the year, dialing it back to 2% growth compared to the 4.1% forecast of last quarter. Gartner said the decline is due mostly to changes in the U.S. dollar exchange rates and a decrease in spending on tech devices. Strong growth is forecast for tablet sales and mobile phones. "While new devices are set to hit the market in the second half of 2013, they will fail to compensate for the underlying weakness of the traditional PC market," Gartner said.
