Crapo requests GAO review of CFPB data collection

Sen. Mike Crapo, R-Idaho, is asking the Government Accountability Office to study the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau's collection of data on consumers and to ensure the agency is not violating consumer privacy. Crapo wants to know what types of data are being collected, whether the agency has legal authority to collect such data, what measures will ensure consumers' privacy and how much outside parties are being paid to assist.
