Letter: Candy execs push for sugar-subsidy reform

The presidents of Connecticut-based Thompson Brands and Pez Candy applauded the Congress members from their state who voted for an amendment on the recently defeated farm bill that would have ended costly sugar subsidies, in a letter to the editor in The Courant. The letter also encouraged other lawmakers from the state to take action, and pointed out that while no sugar is grown in the state, Connecticut food and candy companies employ about 6,550 workers.
