Retail real-estate fundamentals slowly improve, Reis reports

Retail vacancy rates in the U.S. dropped nationally to 10.5% in the second quarter from 10.6% the previous quarter, according to Reis. Asking and effective rates both rose, albeit slightly, by 0.3%. Class A retail centers are found to be performing better, as affluent shoppers have recovered from the recession.
