Thoratec to pay up to $43.5M for Terumo's heart pump

Thoratec has agreed to pay Terumo as much as $43.5 million in cash and potential milestone fees for its DuraHeart II heart pump. As part of the deal, Terumo will hand over its DuraHeart development operation in Ann Arbor, Mich., to Thoratec, while Terumo will market the DuraHeart II ventricular assist device in Japan and possibly other parts of Asia.
