SNA works for more flexible school meal requirements

The School Nutrition Association is leading a lobbying effort to add flexibility to federal standards for school meals, saying the regulations it helped to create now go too far and have been too costly for schools. Food waste totals $684 million each year, said Diane Pratt-Heavner, SNA's spokeswoman. She said that "is enough to serve complete reimbursable school lunches to more than 228 million students."
