Report: Toshiba said to be discounting HD-DVD player

In an effort to attract CE consumers, Toshiba reportedly is selling its HD-DVD players for about $200 less than manufacturing costs, according to an estimate by iSuppli. The research company expects shipments of next-generation DVD players -- Blu-ray and HD-DVD combined -- will reach 65 million units in 2010.
