Many bosses are micromanagers who treat their workers like mindless drones and crush their enthusiasm and creativity in the process, say Teresa Amabile and Steve Kramer. That's leading them to demand respect and hands-off management from leaders. Many might support a proclamation of their ambitions, Amabile and Kramer write: "We declare our independence as professionals who will do good work if only you give us clear, meaningful goals and then let us figure out how to meet those goals."
