Analysis: China's hunger for mobiles props up memory-chip prices

An ever-growing appetite for mobile devices in China is boosting the prices of DRAMs and NAND flash memory this year, providing a bounty for suppliers such as SK Hynix and Toshiba, Miyoung Kim writes. Apple and Samsung are no longer the only buyers of memory chips as Huawei Technologies as other Chinese manufacturers weigh into the market. "Chipmakers are reaping the benefits of curtailed investment of recent years just when demand is exploding," said Hong Sung-ho of I'M Investment & Securities.
