FDA to propose rule allowing generic drug firms to update Rx data

The FDA expects to release a proposed rule to enable the makers of generic drugs to update prescribing information for their products to include new safety data. "The proposed rule is a classic example of harm reduction. When finalized after public comments, it will provide added protection to the tens of millions of people who regularly use generic drugs," said Dr. Sidney Wolfe of Public Citizen's Health Research Group.
