Ohio program encourages middle-school girls through mentoring, running

Teachers and a dozen middle-school girls at Mayfield Middle School in Mayfield Heights, Ohio, discussed the emotional issues of tween life while training for a 5K run through a program known as Girls on the Run. "This program teaches girls to be proud of who they are. It shows them how our emotional, physical and spiritual health is intertwined," counselor and volunteer coach Traci Wright said.
