Civic journalism is coming, but will the money follow?

More newspapers are using their Web sites to provide an alternative to the traditional top-down form of journalism, moving toward a "town square" format in which the readers also become the writers. It remains to be seen whether this participatory journalism can be a financial savior for struggling newspapers, but advocates say it's a promising way for publications to connect with their audiences.
