Upfront ad sales generate little cheer among broadcast networks

As the upfront ad selling ends, executives from the major broadcast networks are "uncharacteristically mum and apparently cheerless," according to an article in USA TODAY. Observers estimate that ABC, CBS, Fox, NBC, The CW and My Network TV will book around $8.9 billion in ad sales at this year's upfront -- a drop of about 3.4% from last year.
