Commentary: Buying online convenient, but not necessarily cheap

A Wall Street Journal writer shopped online for five simple household items to determine why some consumers skip the local pharmacy or grocery store when purchasing basics. He discovered Internet buying works for those who enjoy the convenience of delivery, but while online services run by drugstores such as Walgreen Co. and CVS offer most products online, the items don't always arrive intact -- or at the cheapest price.
