Creditor seeks to rescue Nortel from sell-off

A private-equity group and Nortel Networks creditor wants to rescue the company by leading a bid for the entire company, according to a published report. New York-based MatlinPatterson Global Advisors is trying to pull together a group of investors to help recapitalize Nortel in time to stop court approval this month of Nokia Siemens Networks' $650 million bid for Nortel's Carrier Networks unit.
