Private schools team up for new online academy

Ten private schools from across the U.S. are joining forces to create the nonprofit Global Online Academy, in which their teachers will provide instruction for a selection of rigorous online courses. The virtual school will limit classes to 18 students, who will collaborate on projects in subjects from foreign languages to media studies meant to supplement -- not replace -- traditional courses.
