CBOT corn, ethanol rise sharply; NYMEX oil slides

Corn for July delivery settled at $7.68 per bushel Thursday, up 49.25 cents, on the Chicago Board of Trade. August light sweet crude slipped 44 cents to close at $87.22 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange. July denatured ethanol gained 4.4 cents to reach its highest price since Dec. 5, at $2.398 per gallon on the CBOT.
