Alaska NICU offers quiet, private space for babies, parents

Providence Hospital in Anchorage, Alaska, changed the floor plan in its NICU, offering private rooms instead of an open-bay concept. The changes make the unit quieter and give parents and infants more privacy and space for overnight stays. Clinical manager Sharon Liska said she thinks the noise and lack of privacy in the old unit affected newborn development.
