Arinc Direct enters Iridium-powered onboard communications market

Arinc Direct's new Xplore system provides Iridium-based Acars-type communications and text messaging for both the flight deck and the cabin. Users can carry it onto the airplane because no installation of the avionics unit is required. The Xplore system is set to begin shipping this month and carries a retail price of $25,000.
