Emergency gallbladder procedures may carry greater complication risk

An analysis of data from almost 600 gallbladder surgeries conducted in one U.S. hospital revealed that 18 of the 22 patients who experienced complications underwent emergency procedures. Getting the surgery after 7 p.m. and being an older man were linked to a greater risk of complications, researchers reported at a medical meeting.
