European lawmakers: U.S. must reveal spying activity

The European Parliament is asking the U.S. to be completely transparent in regard to its spying activities and is launching an inquiry into the matter. "Boundaries need to be set on both sides of the Atlantic to protect the interests of EU citizens. Strict and consistent data protection rules are needed in the EU and the United States," said Jan Philipp Albrecht, the European lawmaker in charge of an EU data-security overhaul. In addition, the EU has decided to set stronger punishments for cybercrime.
