Firefox OS aims for hassle-free app development

The Firefox operating system makes life easy for application developers by eliminating the need for a developer toolkit and relying instead on free programming languages such as HTML5 and JavaScript, writes Scott Gilbertson. The OS includes no native code or special programs, he notes. "If you missed the app gold rushes on iOS and Android because you didn't want to learn a new programming language or your ideas didn't fit the mould of what was declared possible, Firefox OS wants you," Gilbertson writes.
