HTC falls short of estimates in Q2

HTC offered another sign today that the high-end smartphone market has become saturated. The Taiwanese maker of the One phone reported an 83% decline in second-quarter net income and failed to meet analysts' already modest expectations. Analysts are not exactly bullish on HTC's prospects, saying that a mini version of the One and a larger model will face strong competition from new handsets from Samsung Electronics and Apple.
