Many Ariz. schools already comply with snack rules

Mary Szafranski, deputy associate superintendent for health and nutrition services at the Arizona Department of Education, said that her department supports new federal regulations requiring schools to sell healthier snacks on campus and that many schools already are in compliance because the state passed similar rules in 2006. Diane Pratt-Heavner, spokeswoman for the School Nutrition Association, however, raised concerns about "the impact that eliminating some of the food options will have on school meal programs participation."
