Mass. district officials discuss effects of transitional year

Taste tests and new food items are on next year's menu in one Massachusetts district. Pittsfield Public Schools has seen a significant decrease in revenue from the sale of school meals and snacks since implementing new federal meal standards and state rules for school snacks, said Kristen C. Behnke, assistant superintendent for business and finance. "This [deficit] is in line with what is happening around the state," she noted.
