Men with three or more metabolic syndrome components were 38% more likely than those with no risk factors to be diagnosed with prostate cancer and had a 52% higher risk of clinically significant prostate cancer and a 43% higher risk of high-grade prostate cancer, a Canadian study showed. The findings were presented at the Canadian Urological Association's 2013 meeting.
