Should business owners fret over paid sick leave laws?

In recent years, a number of jurisdictions have passed laws requiring employers to provide paid sick leave for workers. In many cases, business owners say the rules have not been onerous. "[A]ll and all, I actually think it's a good thing," said Bill Stone, a restaurant owner in San Francisco who initially opposed such a requirement. Not everyone is convinced, however. "Businesses that are affected by the law don't like it," said Peter Gioia, who is affiliated with a trade group in Connecticut and objects to a "one-size-fits-all, union-type, strictly regulated set of procedures on everybody."
