Utah county jail teaches inmates organic farming

Inmates at the Salt Lake County jail are learning organic farming in the Excellence in Gardening program, which is also designed to instill work ethic. Inmates take 10 hours of classes and tend a 1.5-acre organic garden, learning tasks to grow produce, including pest management, monitoring irrigation and harvesting. Produce grown and harvested from the garden is sold at a weekly farmers market.
