Old stem cell lines to get federal funding under NIH rules

Scientists working on older stem cell lines will be entitled to receive federal funding, according to final guidelines issued by the NIH. The final rules come after researchers questioned the Obama administration's proposal in April to subject fertilized egg donors to extensive consent forms, which they believe would restrict government funding to stem cell lines that already were approved by the Bush administration.
