American Airlines employee data lost in computer theft

Personal information on some 79,000 employees may have been compromised when a computer hard drive was stolen from the Texas headquarters of American Airlines' parent company AMR Corp. No customer data was affected by the theft, which occurred in AMR's pension department. The company said it "has already implemented additional protective measures," including "additional physical security, access control and computer system vulnerability assessments," and would pay for one year of credit monitoring for employees who may have been affected.
