China smooths the path for banks' investment overseas

China plans to ease foreign exchange rules to make it easier for banks to make a direct investment abroad. The State Administration of Foreign Exchange said it will eliminate a requirement that banks seek the agency's permission before funding foreign mergers and acquisitions or opening branches outside China.
