Community-based initiative reduces diabetes in adults

The Healthy Living Partnership to Prevent Diabetes, a community-based program, helped overweight or obese adults at risk for the disease reduce their body weight by more than 7% on average, study data showed. Participants in the program, which focused on weight loss, nutrition and exercise, also reduced waist circumference and blood glucose levels, resulting in about a 50% reduction in the incidence of diabetes.
