Federal program aims to bring broadband service to rural areas

The Obama administration has announced nearly $1 billion in stimulus grants and private funds to support 66 initiatives designed to bring broadband connectivity to rural areas across the country, including 900 health facilities. Broadband will help spur telehealth use, an expert said, adding that the technology's "ease of use is allowing practices, hospitals and clinics to manage and deploy telehealth in a way that is reasonable."
