Dozens of senior lawyers from major Western firms are sitting the Hong Kong bar exam in hopes that practicing in the special administrative region will allow them to cash in on the mainland's booming economy. Firms including Davis Polk & Wardwell, Weil Gotshal & Manges and Shearman & Sterling have had partners sit the Hong Kong bar in recent months. "Hong Kong has become the battleground for the world's law firms. ... This is where the action is," said Davis Polk & Wardwell's William Barron.
