AABB task force chairman discusses XMRV and blood transfusion

Implementing stricter screening measures for chronic fatigue syndrome could divert attention from known blood-borne diseases such as HIV and hepatitis B, said Harvey Klein, chairman of the AABB task force addressing XMRV and its possible transmission through blood. At present, there are no reports of patients having contracted CFS from a blood transfusion.
