New findings cloud quest for genetic origins of disease

Points of genetic variation are different depending upon the geographic location of peoples, research has found, complicating the effort to link common diseases to genetic causes. The analysis, part of the ongoing 1,000 Genomes Project started in 2008, could mean the genetic sources of disease will need to be researched individually for distinct populations.
