Safety is an issue with "functionally obsolete" bridge

The Ohio Kentucky Indiana Regional Council of Governments knows safety is an issue with the "functionally obsolete," 48-year-old Brent Spence Bridge over the Ohio River at Cincinnati. However, replacing it would take about 10 years and cost about $2.3 billion. "[T]here are no simple solutions," said OKI's executive director, Mark Policinski. "The real problem is how long it takes to build things in this country. The federal process is awful, it's broken, and now we see that it's dangerous."
