Student in gifted program is honored for creating history website

A student in a Maryland middle school's gifted-education program created an award-winning website about the Cuban Missile Crisis. Eighth-grader Maria Viera created the site as part of her school's National History Day curriculum. The site went on to earn Viera recognition at the National History Day contest held in June, placing sixth among students nationwide.
