Washington law to require all state buildings receive Silver LEED ratings

Under new legislation taking effect this month, Washington will become the first state in the nation to require all new state buildings receive Silver LEED certification from the U.S. Building Council. The bill, which takes effect July 24, applies to new remodeling or construction projects larger than 5,000 square feet, with some buildings, including hospitals and research facilities, exempted from the rule.
