Edwards' device for mitral valve repair safer than sternotomy

A study found that patients who received Edwards Lifesciences' Port Access system to repair or replace their mitral valve had shorter hospital stays and were less likely to undergo post-operative ventilation compared with those who underwent traditional sternotomy. The system features balloons, coronary sinus catheters and other reusable tools.
