SNM gives out grants for nuclear medicine research

SNM's Education and Research Foundation has given about $245,000 in grants to several research initiatives on PET, SPECT and molecular imaging. Some of the research focus includes the use of FLT-PET and FET-PET for the early evaluation of an aggressive type of brain tumor called glioblastoma multiforme and of molecular imaging to diagnose Alzheimer's disease at its early stage. There also are initiatives to study molecular imaging for low-grade cartilage tumors and SPECT/CT for the diagnosis of diabetes after a heart attack.
